Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy

I am a highly enthusiastic play therapist and counsellor who is passionate about early-intervention, upholding the belief that early intervention paves the path for a positive future where individuals are able to thrive and meet their full potential. I have a special interest in working with children who experience separation anxiety and situation mutism and those who have experienced early childhood developmental trauma, cumulative complex trauma and grief/loss. I have extensive experience working with children with neurological diversities such as; developmental delays, ADHD and ASD. Most importantly though, I truely believe that children with any difference should not be defined by their diagnostic label. I believe that our differences are a strength and that reframing our perception of these can ultimately change the way these differences are viewed. I have witnessed the power of play in allowing growth, transformation and improvement for children who are experiencing social-emotional and behavioural difficulties in their early years.

I believe that conscious parenting from an empathetic and strength based approach provides the foundation for a happy, secure home. Within my practice, I strive to hold a reflective, safe, understanding and non-judgemental space for parents, to assist them in enhancing their parenting skills in a way that is useful and suitable for them. Moreover, I like to incorporate psycho-education of the human neural system so that parents are better able to understand the natural responses of the human brain and its development.

I believe that communication and connection is the gateway to change and strive to mentor my clients on focusing on developing these skills so that they are able to respond to life's challenges in beneficial and effective ways.

Outside of my role as a therapist, I am a devoted wife and mother of two wonderful children. I am local to the Macedon Ranges and enjoy exploring the surrounds as much as possible. I love being outdoors and in nature - it brings me a sense of peace and calmness. I also enjoys sports (Go Cats!), camping, bike riding, hiking, travelling, and exploring markets. I grew up competing in Calisthenics and have a love and passion for dance and music. I believe that dance and music are some of our most natural therapeutic remedies in regulating our nervous system. I love trying new cuisines and being social with friends and within the community. I do love to talk about anything I am passionate about and I love to support charities and foundations, close to my heart where I can.
